Fantasy illustrations for Books

Book Illustration

I specialize in book illustration and visual narratives. Let’s create your next fantasy project together!

Illustrations are portals to your story—they invite your audience to step in and explore the world you’ve created. Every book needs engaging visuals to capture potential readers’ attention.

  • Artwork created from scratch for YOUR project;
  • High-quality file, ready to print in .PSD. JPG, and any other file format you need;
  • Commercial use: you can sell your books and promote them using the illustrations;
  • No A.I.: original art, entirely created by an artist!

⚠️ Please read carefully before booking!
Digital illustration only (2D). Layout and graphic design are not included.

I’m Mari Morgan, a 2D artist. My main focus is on creating visual narratives. Over the past six years, while working with authors and publishers, I have created illustrations for many applications beyond book covers, such as illustrations for postcards, bookmarks, door signs, and page illustrations.

In addition to book art, I create illustrations for card games, board games, animation backgrounds/matte painting, etc.

How it works

1) Briefing: information about your project and ideas

Send me an email to get to know you and how I can help bring your ideas to life. Don’t forget to include all your ideas, references, and wishes!

2) Explorations: visual development of your project

Now it’s time to explore! Based on your ideas, I will develop different options (sketches and color tests) so you can choose which approach and visual language work best for you.

3) Review: feedback and request for changes to the book illustrations

While we can get many things right from the start of the project, there will always be room for adjustments. You will always be consulted during the development process to ensure you can provide input on the pieces we are creating.

4) Rendering

Once you approve all changes and choose the final draft, I will focus on perfecting the illustrations for delivery.

5) Final Delivery!

This is when I send you all the amazing illustrations we created together: I’ll give you the final files in JPG, PNG, and PSD format!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you put the titles and author’s names on the cover?
    I can create a quick mock-up during the process and suggest fonts with your project name, but my main role is to create the artwork for the book cover or book illustration.
  • Do you edit the book for publication?
    No. As mentioned above, I only deal with the cover and digital art. I recommend that you ask your editor, typesetter, or trusted graphic designer to finalize your book for publication.
  • Do you create vector art for book illustrations?
    No, I do not create vector art. I will digitally paint as a raster image (bitmap), delivered in file formats such as JPG, PNG, and PSD.
  • What if I don’t like the drafts/sketches?
    I don’t expect you to approve the first drafts without liking any of the proposed art – that’s why it’s important to share your thoughts and feedback during the process. At the beginning of the explorations, you can always ask for more options! Besides creating a functional and appealing illustration, my main goal is to ensure that you also like the art.
  • Can I use the discarded drafts for other purposes?
    No – only if you choose to develop them further with me. I do not allow another professional to work on discarded drafts; I hope you understand.
  • Do you send the PSD file with all the layers?
    Only if you request to separate certain elements in the illustration in advance. In any other case, I will send the standard PSD file with 1 layer.
  • What is included in a Revision?
    Minor adjustments to the art that do not compromise the overall chosen composition, technical corrections, and requests for new file formats and sizes.
